As a Christian spiritual director, I seek to companion with Christians with the purpose of helping them discover how our heavenly Father has been and is attending, directing and transforming their lives on their journey with Jesus. Meeting one on one with directees either in-person or virtually, directees are given permission to be still in an environment conducive to prayerful conversation that is alert to the Holy Spirit’s presence and promptings. Sustainable Faith’s School of Spiritual Direction trained and certified me as a spiritual director. I have over 32 years of experience as a preaching pastor in rural, small town, and metropolitan settings including cross-cultural experience outside the contiguous United States. In June of 2024, I stepped aside from serving 24 years as the preaching pastor of my hometown church in order to devote more time to offering spiritual direction and sabbatical advising. I also have experience as a licensed elementary school teacher in both Christian and public schools, as well as administrative leadership roles in alternative and non-traditional secondary level educational programs within public school systems. For a time I worked as an alternative education consultant to public school systems. I was also an instructor during part of my enlistment in the U.S. Air Force. I have a double major B.S. in Bible and Elementary Teacher Education from Johnson Bible College (now Johnson University). I received an M.S. in Adult Education with a Concentration in New Testament from Indiana University; the concentration credits earned through Johnson University. My wife and I have been married for almost 43 years. We have three married children, six grandchildren and a seventh on the way. I was raised on a grain, hay, and livestock farm in Indiana. I enjoy hiking, all things analog (fountain pens & bottled ink, fine stationery and portable manual typewriters), hot Earl Grey tea, Turkish coffee, reading biographies and John Buchan novels.
