Our work with youth
Through transformative youth ministry programs and events, we disciple lost youth, develop emerging leaders, and empower them to reach their networks for Christ.
Opportunities to support our youth
Uprising is more than a youth initiative; it’s a grassroots movement in the West Bronx that empowers young people through youth ministry programs and events. By fostering self-worth, identity, and potential, we guide youth to actively build peace, safety, and hope in their communities. Your partnership can make a tangible difference in the lives of these youth through opportunities like these:
Opportunities to support our youth
Uprising hosts gatherings 4–5 evenings a week, from game nights to Bible studies, youth leadership meetings, and community workshops. Meals are central to our work, offering both community-building and meeting real needs—many of our youth face food insecurity, and some even homelessness. Each evening, we prepare meals together or hire local neighbors to help feed our participants, always keeping snacks and quick meal options on hand.
Leader Empowerment: Equipping Youth to Lead
Uprising thrives because of our youth and young adult leaders, many of whom grew up in the neighborhood. These leaders volunteer their time, sharing their skills to inspire the next generation. From basketball boot camps that keep kids off the streets to music engineering workshops in our studio, these leaders serve with passion and purpose. Your support can help provide honorariums or resources to equip these leaders to realize their dreams.
Leadership Retreat: Creating Spaces of Peace and Renewal
In a neighborhood marked by gang violence and crowded households, peace can feel out of reach. Our annual leadership retreat offers youth leaders a calm, safe space to rest, reflect, and grow. Through prayer practices, quiet time, and intentional bonding, these retreats equip them to lead with renewed energy and hope, while providing a much-needed respite from their daily challenges.
